SIMUL@: Evaluation of a simulation technology environment for the Learning of transverse competences in the university
Ref. EDU2013-42223-P
2009 - 2011
The learning of transverse competences in the University is a complex system, which requires the change of teaching methodologies. The support of technological environments that simulate professional situations can increase the efficiency of the learning processes.
SIMUL @: Evaluation of a simulation technology environment for the Learning of transverse competences in the university is a project financed by the MEC in the context of the call for R & D of the year 2007, which intends to advance in the research of this subject.
The core objective of the project is to determine the formative value of technological simulation environments for the development of transversal competences in the university; specifically, the skills of Planning and organization, and teamwork.
In the development of the project, coordinated by the Rovira i Virgili University, universities from different countries (Spain, Germany, Portugal) are involved, forming a multidisciplinary team that integrates experts in the field of education and technology.
The execution framework foreseen in the original design of the project is specified in Tourism and Education qualifications (degree and master’s degree)
This seminar aims to share information on the content and development of the project so that its results can be disseminated both by the university community and other sectors linked to the training of university graduates and their subsequent insertion in the world of work.

Specific objectives
O1: Design a training process in transversal competences through the use of simulation tools in technological environments.
O2: Design a process of evaluation of the transversal competences of Planning and organization and Teamwork based on their valuation when transferred to academic-professional contexts as practical, practices, stays in companies or similar.
O3: To determine the formative value of the technological simulation environments for the development of transversal competences (specifically Planning and organization and Team work) in the university.
O4: To explore the relationships between the personal characteristics of research subjects and the process of learning transversal competences of Planning and organization and Teamwork through the simulation environment.
O5: Apply the results and disseminate them both in the academic field and in the work environment.
At the time of developing this project three major blocks were made: design block, execution block and project management block. In each of these were marked a series of milestones and tasks that allowed to reach the proposed objectives. Therefore, each milestone assumes the completion of a part of the project and can be identified with a specific objective
BLOCK 1 Design of training program and process of evaluation of transversal competences.
Related Objectives O1 y O2.
BLOCK 2 Experimentation.
Related Objectives O3 y O4.
BLOCK 3 Project management.
Related Objectives 05.
