Virtual Learning Communities (COVA)

Virtual Learning Communities (COVA)

2004MQD 00083

2004 - 2005

The main objective of this project is to improve and increase the efficiency and effectiveness in the training of graduates for the knowledge society, based on the real situation of the three participating universities (UB, UdL and URV).

With this project it is intended:

  • From a curricular point of view, integrate the tool of the resource center both to the subjects of physical education and those of NTIC.
  • Generate virtual learning communities of professors (favoring interdisciplinarity).
  • Generate virtual learning communities of students, favoring their involvement in training and their involvement in the design and development of training material.
  • Generate resources, activities and spaces for dialogue and discussion to improve the quality of the teaching process.
  • Promote the self-learning and collaboration of students and teachers, thus generating a common space for cooperation and the generation of colavorative knowledge.

  1. Apply the interuniversity virtual resource center in quality teaching in the area of physical education and NTIC.
  2. Generate virtual communities of interuniversity learning in the field of physical education and NTIC with an active participation of teachers and students.
  3. To promote collaborative work, the exchange of experiences and the generation of knowledge in the field of the aforementioned subject matter.
  4. To continue promoting the generation and exchange of educational resources in electronic format as support elements for the self-learning of university students in the field of physical education.
  5. Facilitate the acquisition of basic ICT skills and competences in university students.
  6. To set the basic principles of a collaborative work methodology in a technological environment that favors the active participation of the students in their learning process through the use of telematic tools.
  7. To set the basic criteria and principles in order to transfer the use of the virtual resource center to other areas of knowledge in the university field.
  8. Produce a set of services, resources and common spaces in a network that can be used to promote the continuous training of teachers from the university field and in relation to physical education.

The development of the project is based on two basic points: Participatory research-action and collaborative network work through the use of telematic tools. The complementary synthesis of its strengths will allow to optimize the potential of the project in relation to the didactic and technological training of the teaching staff for the curricular integration of the TICs as much at educational level as investigator.
